Benjamin Paul is Professor for Italian Renaissance art at Rutgers University. He has published the volume Nuns and Reform Art in Early Modern Venice. The Architecture of Santi Cosma e Damiano and Its Decoration from Tintoretto to Tiepolo (2012) and has edited the volumes Celebrazione e autocritica. La Serenissima e la ricerca dell’identità veneziana nel tardo Cinquecento (2014) and The Tombs of the Doges of Venice from the Beginning of the Serenissima to 1907 (2016). In addition, he works as a critic on contemporary art, writing for newspapers (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung) and magazines (Artforum). Most recently he has published a study on German performance artist Anne Imhof in Zeitschrift für Kunstgeschichte (2020).
