David Lynch and Mark Frost: Itinerary of a television Odyssey
Abstract
This essay is an original investigation to demonstrate that the American TV show Twin Peaks (1989-1991) and its sequel Twin Peaks: The Return (2017) are the product of an “Odyssey” artwork process directed by the filmmaker David Lynch and the writer Mark Frost. Following the three parts of this essay, the reader is invited to discover the cultural, philosophical and narrative legacy of the homeric poem during the creative act of this masterpiece of television that changed our way to consume TV shows and to create them forever.
