Abstract

Due to changes in the mediascape, the forms of audiovisual seriality, including animated seriality aimed at children and young-adults, have also changed over the years. Storytelling techniques and structures have also (and accordingly) diversified, providing the possibility of staging more complex plots and composite points of view including those (such as minorities and adults) who were usually left out from representations in animated fiction. The She-Ra series, originated in the 1980s and rebranded in 2018, provides a case in point. The paper addresses the differences between the two versions of She-Ra in order to identify their differences from the perspective of generational changes between viewers and characters in terms of fruition, representations and structure.
