The following contribution aims to analyze the construction of the domestic landscape through the case study of the music video Aristocratica by Matia Bazar. The video brings together the creative inputs of Studio Alchimia (set design), Metamorfosi (video and computer graphics), and Occhiomagico (cover design and art direction).
The analogy between landscape and domestic space draws upon the seminal exhibition Italy: The New Domestic Landscape (MoMA, New York, 1972), as well as Contemporary Landscape (Tokyo, 1985), where Alessandro Mendini presented the same Mobili Infiniti featured in the video.
Through the visual experimentation of Metamorfosi, the domestic landscape becomes a site of reflection on the relationship between body and environment, interior and exterior, nature and artificiality.
