The museum of the future, in the museum's past
Abstract
"Nous voulons démolir les musées [...]", the beginning of the Manifeste du Futurisme by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti still retains its provocative value, because if we fail to make museums become an integral part of social life, they may even die. The paper investigates the present context of museums and their exceptional potential, due to the very nature of the collections, which are the ideal place for interpreting the metamorphoses underway, the human heritage that is changing. The supposed future is one of a "proximity museum", which does not forget the citizen and works in favor of a necessary integration that can no longer be postponed in its cultural issues.
